Our Town And A Day At The Range

This is a shot I took overlooking our town. We live in Fernley NV with a population of about 15,000 people. I know it may not look like much, but there is a lot of history here. Right past those buildings is I80, a hwy that goes right into California. This route from the east was a major lane that some of the original pioneers and prospectors took to come west to find freedom, gold, and their own promised land. There are still many artifacts being found from those groups, as well as from some native peoples whom still occupy this area. Directly left of that mountain is Pyramid Lake, on the Paiute Indian Reservation. Pots, bones, arrowheads etc are still turning up from an indigenous people long ago. I love living in an area where you can observe God's creations. You sure can't find this among the 8 million people that live in Phoenix. The mountain in this picture is home to pronghorns, wild mustang horses, deer, and lots of mountain lions. Its a very simple way of life here. The people are friendly, and have a genuine care for one another. I love driving around and seeing old men who have lived here for years, and have seen this town "boom" as they say, to our whopping current population. Fernely was a major route for the railroad and still has one of the old train stations right in town with the wood plank walkways and all. Life is great when you have the opportunity to get out and see what this country was founded upon. Even with our wacky liberal neighbors to the west in California, Nevada is still home to some great people who cling to their God and their guns!

What a glorious day. You know you truly live in a great place when you can go about 1/2 mile from your back door and lay down a little lead. My friend Nathan and I, and our boys went out shooting the other day and had a great time. We have a spot that is designated as OUR shooting area, where we like to meet up and do what guys love to do. Here is a picture of a couple of the guns we had that day.

Recession. What Recession?

That's a lot of balloons

AP - Sunday Jan 18, 2008 8:05 pm

– President-elect Barack Obama speaks during 'We Are One: Opening Inaugural Celebration at the Lincoln …

As the recession continues to wreak havoc on the U.S. economy and inauguration celebrations ramp up, a lot of people are asking: "How much will this shindig cost?"

The short answer? Likely more than $150 million — and yep, that would be the most expensive ever. (By comparison, George W. Bush's 2005 inauguration cost $42.3 million. Bill Clinton managed with $33 million in 1993.)

Obama's much-discussed (and very cool-looking) custom Cadillac limo certainly couldn't come cheap, though we'll never really know how much it cost. Cadillac spokesman David Caldwell said the car's exact specifications are a big secret, including the safety features and production cost.

But Forbes reports it's not all flak jackets and armored cars:

To manage an event of this scale, the District of Columbia will spend a mammoth $47 million. It is not enough.... Much of the $45 million will go toward creating a dynamic Inauguration experience for the everyday visitor, not just funding exclusive events. "We don't even consider these events to be extravagant," says Linda Douglas, a spokeswoman from the Presidential Inauguration Committee. "With crowds of this size, most of our attention is being devoted to opening up as many events to the public."

---My thougths---Over 3 Million people who've lost their jobs, Unemployment almost to double digit proportions, $700 Billion in bailout money a couple months ago, another $750 Billion wanted by the President Elect, and what are we chosing to spend our money on.... A BIG PARTY!!! I never thought I would say this, but, man do I miss "Slick Willy." (Bill Clinton)

My Boys

Ok...Here goes. My very first post of MY blog. I'm excited to have a place to post my personal feelings about things that are important in my life such as my God, my family, my beliefs, things I feel are important, and squeezing in a little fun along the way.

For those who may not know, I'm very happily married with 3 beautiful children. Don't worry, you will get to know them all very well in the posts to come. For example, these two knuckle heads above are my two crazy boys. I love these kids terribly! The are the offspring of Cylee and I, and by the looks of them in the picture, you can see they get their behavior from their mother.

I'm excited to share with you my passions in life, and things that I enjoy talking about. Some of those are The Church, my family, my passion for upholding the Second Amendment, some politics, the great outdoors, work, and anything else I feel like spouting off about. I appreciate all of you who will log on to take a peek into my life, and welcome any comments you may have... as long as I agree with them!

This little man to the right is Cole, or Colesterlicious as commonly refer ed to. He will be turning 5 in June, and every time I look at him I wonder where the time has gone. He is growing up so fast, and each day I wish time would slow down, or even go in reverse if at all possible. Dads' always have a special place in their hearts for their first born, and I sure do for him. Hes a great older brother and will make a fine missionary some day. He is so full of energy, excitement, love and forgiveness, (and sometimes a little rottenness too). I'm excited for our future together and the fun time we will will have. He is a wonderful little boy and I love him dearly.

Time for Carsonator! Yes, Fabio does have a younger brother and its Carson. This little morsel of a human is our 2nd in line. If it were possible for me to have a mini-me, it would be Carson. Its crazy to see how the personalities of kids align themselves sometimes with those of their parents. Cylee and Cole have the same temperament and Carson and I do as well. Carson is very laid back and likes to go with the flow. He is showing signs of being more sensitive and cuddly than Cole did, and will be an absolute pleasure to have around as time goes on. He seems to always be on my heels wherever I go and will make a good hunting/camping buddy in the years to come. I am so thankful for him and his brother and feel much gratitude to our Heavenly Father for him sending them down to us. - My only prayer now, is that we will be the parents, and more specifically, that I will be the father that I need to be to be, in order to show that appreciation. Carson, I love you buddy!
